National SQP Week, 5-12 June 2026
The UK’s first ever National SQP Week was held 5-12 June 2026. This event heralded a nationwide celebration of the vital role Suitably Qualified Persons (SQPs) play in safeguarding the health and wellbeing of livestock and pets across the UK.

Boehringer-Ingelheim’s support for National SQP Week
We were delighted to collaborate with Boehringer-Ingelheim during National SQP Week 2026 to bring SQPs two terrific learning opportunities, as part of our Mini Bites series.
Companion Animal SQPs had the opportunity to watch a lunchtime webinar on the subject of “Parasite Protection in Practice: Helping Owners Tackle Fleas, Ticks and Worms with Confidence”.
In the evening, Equine SQPs were provided with free registration to a topical session titled, “SMART Worming: Sustainable Equine Parasite Control”
Unable to attend during National SQP Week? The good news is that both Mini Bite sessions are now available online:

How else can you promote the SQP role?
The simple ways you can help promote the SQP role and the value it offers to animal owners all year round, includes the following:
- Wear your SQP badge with pride!

- Place a photo board at the entrance of your business. This can include photo’s of your SQPs, their names and a description of their role
- Create a “Professional Advice” area in your business where SQPs can operate from
- Introduce your SQPs and their pets in online newsletters
- Have an SQP page on your website, describing the value SQPs offer in giving trusted, professional advice about animal health, welfare and medicines
- Post updates about your SQPs and their activities on your social media pages
